February 10: Doomsday For Businesses That Sell Used Children's Clothing & Handmade Toys

A controversial new law that requires that all products sold to children under the age of 12 be tested for lead and phthalates prior to being sold will go into effect February 10th.

When the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act takes effect on February 10th, all used clothing for kids, all school supplies, all toys and anything else made for children under 12 will have to undergo this extremely expensive testing or it will be against the law to sell them.

That means that the sale of used kids clothes and toys on Ebay, Craigslist, thrift stores and even yard sales will be SHUT DOWN.

Some groups had been hoping that this law would only apply to children's clothing manufactured after February 10th, but according to the Los Angeles Times, the Consumer Product Safety Commission's general counsel has made a determination that this new law applies to everyone retroactively.

Ouch!

There is a huge segment of the American population that makes all or part of their living off of the sale of used merchandise. In trying to "protect children" from lead, the federal government is going to shut a lot of those people down.

The new law is called the "Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act", and it was pushed through Congress after lead was discovered in so many children's products (particularly from China) the past few years.

So if you plan to sell ANY products for children under 12 after February 10th, even if they are used, and you have not had them go through the federally mandated testing then you are breaking the law.

So what will happen to all of that perfectly good children's clothing?

Adele Meyer, the executive director of the National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops said that "they'll all have to go to the landfill."

Shauna Sloan, the founder of Kid to Kid, which has sold used children's clothing in 75 stores across the United States for years had this sobering statement about the new law: "We will have to lock our doors and file for bankruptcy."

So will we all be forced to only shop for children's clothing and products at the mega retail chains that can afford this very expensive government testing?

What about the grandmother who wants to knit a few sweaters for children and sell them at the county fair?

Will men with guns start showing up at thrift stores and yard sales across the United States?

For decades, Americans flocked to the state of California in droves. Not anymore. Now many Americans can't wait to get out of that state. For the 4th year in a row, more Americans have left California than moved there from other states.

The truth is that California is quickly becoming a total nightmare, and all of the sunny weather, sandy beaches and Hollywood stars are not enough to keep people there anymore.

#1) California's overstretched emergency healthcare system is on the verge of absolute collapse. Dozens of hospitals and emergency rooms have shut down in the last decade. Many emergency rooms simply could not afford to stay open as they were swamped with immigrants and poor and homeless who were not able to pay for the services they were getting.

This had led to brutally long waits, diverted ambulances and even patient deaths as emergency rooms are just way, way too crowded.

#2) Tax refunds are now on hold in California for the very first time in the history of that state. According to ABC News, Hallye Jordan, spokeswoman for California State Controller John Chiang said this about the situation.....

"Unfortunately, we have asked the California Franchise Tax Board not to send over tax refund claims beginning today because we will not be able to process them and have them out the door by Feb. 1 when a 30-day delay in tax refunds goes into effect."

#3) The unemployment rate in California is 8.4 percent and rising.

#4) Due to very high taxes and crippling housing costs, the cost of living in California is outrageous.

#5) Rampant gangs and increasing crime is making California an increasingly dangerous place to live.

#6) The traffic in the major cities is absolutely suffocating.

#7) An all time record of 236,000 foreclosures have been projected in California for 2008, more than the entire prior nine years combined, according to the research firm MDA DataQuick.

#8) Each year there are the thousands of devastating wildfires in the state.

#9) Each year there are endless earthquakes, and the "big one" could hit at any time.

#10) In addition, California officials say that the drought in 2009 may be the worst in California history.

Barack Obama's #1 Republican Ally: John McCain

Now that the election is over, what was evident to many Americans is now becoming crystal clear - there never were major differences between Barack Obama and John McCain, and they would be working closely together no matter who was elected.

Some Americans are acting like this is a surprise. For example, NewsMax thought they would shock the internet with this headline: "McCain Now Obama's No. 1 Senate Ally", but the article was mostly met with a big yawn.

Why?

Because everyone already knows this.

Let's review some of their areas of agreement.....

#1) Foreign Policy - McCain is absolutely thrilled with Obama's cabinet appointments in this area. In addition, it only took Obama 3 days to launch his first military strike in Pakistan which is another move that McCain will undoubtedly get behind.

#2) Economic Policy - Both candidates supported that bailout, remember? In fact, both pushed their parties very hard to bail out Wall Street. To combat the current economic crisis, both candidates proposed radical, almost socialist, measures during the campaign. McCain shows no signs of opposing Obama's economic policy at all.

#3) Immigration Policy - Conservatives consider both Obama and McCain to be incredibly soft on immigration. Both have worked for the passage of a liberal immigration reform bill in the past, and both undoubtedly will in the future.

#4) Social Issues - Both candidates were "officially" against same sex marriage, but both of them have worked hard to advance the gay political agenda in the Senate. Even though McCain is supposed to be "pro-life", he ran campaign ads that highlighted his support for embryonic stem cell research, and that is an issue where he is in complete agreement with Obama.

#5) Environment - John McCain is so liberal on global warming that he could virtually be called the Republican version of Al Gore. Obama has declared that global warming will be a very important priority for his administration, and he will likely find no greater supporter among Republicans than John McCain.

The truth is that John McCain has almost worked more closely with the Democrats during his years in the Senate than he has with Republicans. There is not a single major area of Barack Obama's agenda that it looks like John McCain will oppose.

So there you go America.

The reality is that John McCain is not a conservative and he never was.

Anti-Christian feelings have never been this strong in the United States. If you spend much time on the internet, you know that people are speaking out against Christianity more than ever.

Obama's Life Story Made Into An Anti-Abortion Ad By A Catholic Group

In a move that is outraging pro-choice groups, a Catholic group has made a television commercial that turns Barack Obama's life story into an anti-abortion ad.

The ads are sponsored by catholicvote.org. The ad begins by showing a small fetus in a mother's womb as the following words appear:

"This child's future is a broken home."

"He will be abandoned by his father."

"His single mother will struggle to raise him."

"Despite the hardships he will endure this child will become the 1st African-American President."

At the end of the television spot there is a photo of Barack Obama and these words: "Life: Imagine the Potential."

This is the first release of a national media campaign, and the executive director of catholicvote.org told PRNewswire that all the ads in the campaign will use that tag line. "Our message is simple: Abortion is the enemy of hope. The purpose of our new ad is to spread a message of hope about the potential of every human life."

The following video produced by Oprah Winfrey contains footage of a horde of liberal celebrities pledging "to serve" Barack Obama in a variety of ways.

While some of the things the celebrities pledge to do in this video are good, the overall effect of this video is quite disturbing.

This is an example of political propaganda that almost reaches a religious level. Watch this video for yourself and ask yourself how it makes you "feel".....



While many may suggest that this is a great example of America coming together, others would protest that this is nothing more than propaganda designed to mass brainwash the American people to get behind a liberal agenda that includes killing a million babies a year through abortion, removing God and "religion" out of every corner of public life and making the federal government into the big socialist nanny that is the solution to all of our problems and that we all live to serve.

Pastor Rick Warren Shocks Washington By Emphatically Using The Name Of Jesus Christ During His Prayer At The Inauguration Of Presdient Barack Obama

He did use the "J" word.

In front of a crowd of about two million people, most of them extremely liberal, Pastor Rick Warren made headlines around the world by boldly using the name of Jesus during his prayer at the inauguration of Barack Obama.

Not only did Rick Warren emphatically use the name of Jesus during his prayer, but his prayer was definitely one of the most "Christian" inaugural prayers of the post World War II era.

Warren also recognized the historical importance of this day when he prayed: "We know today that Dr. King and a great crowd of witnesses are shouting in heaven."

But what will have the blogs buzzing about Warren's prayer is his very forceful use of the name of Jesus and his very clear identification of the God that he was praying to.

Jill Biden: Joe Biden Had Choice Of VP Or Sec. Of State

Today Jill Biden dropped a bombshell on the Oprah Winfrey show. She revealed to a national audience of millions that Joe Biden had the "choice" to either be Vice President or Secretary of State.

Wow!

When Jill Biden realized her mistake she laughed and blurted out: "Well, okay, he did!"

Oops!

I guess she must have picked up her husband's tendency to put his foot in his mouth.

Almost instantly the spin doctors for Obama and Biden have tried to play down this story, but I think that most Americans will see right through that.

Okay.....Jill Biden spilled the beans and told the truth.....why not just let the truth get out and admit it?

But that is not how American politics work.

Instead everything is about lying and covering things up and making things look the way they are "supposed" to look.

The vast majority of the population is not going to know how to handle these things. There will be mass panic and mass rioting as these things begin to take place. We will soon be facing the days that the apostle Paul wrote about in 2 Timothy 3:1-5.....

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power.

Barack Obama Wants College Football Playoffs And So Do I

Finally we have a president that understands this very important issue. Barack Obama is once again calling for college football playoffs, and this should be one issue that almost ALL Americans can get behind him on.

"If I'm Utah, or if I'm USC or if I'm Texas, I may still have some quibbles," Obama said recently when asked about Florida's win in the national championship game. "That's why we need a playoff."

The truth is that it is darn well time that American college football fans start demanding the end of this ridiculous BCS system and start insisting on a college football playoff system for Division 1.

And I am a University of Florida graduate who is saying this.

I am thrilled that they won the national championship.

But this system is simply not right, and it massively short changes the fans.

So it is time to boycott the bowls next season.

When attendance and viewership drop off sharply, perhaps then the major college football programs will realize that American college football fans are sick and tired of the annual "BCS Mess".

The only good thing that is going to come out of the Texas/Oklahoma travesty this year is that it will draw attention to how horrible the BCS is.

Texas and Oklahoma had identical records and Oklahoma lost to Texas on a neutral field. Texas also had a tougher schedule.

And yet Oklahoma jumped over Texas when they both won their last game?

But the even more ridiculous result this past college football season was this - Utah won all of their games this year and they had absolutely ZERO chance of even getting into the national championship game.

How would you like to win all of your games and never have a chance to even play for the title?

How fair is that?

How long are we going to allow computers and polls to pick a champion?

Each year there is a BCS mess and each year it makes most of us increasingly sicker and more disgusted.

And how hard would it be to implement a playoff system?

An 8 team playoff would mean that 2 teams play one more game per year than they would normally, and 2 teams would play two extra games.

Other divisions in college football have a playoff system, so why not Division 1?

The truth is that it is time for the college football championship to be decided on the field and not in a computer.

So we need to start demanding a playoff system by using our boycott power.

If nobody watched the bowl games and nobody attended them then the powers that be would be forced into a change.

So perhaps it is time to send a message.

No more BCS!

We want a change.

Mountains, Babies & Schools Are Already Being Named After Obama

Has the United States of America ever had a president have so many things named after him before he even takes office? The Obama naming craze is literally sweeping the world.

Consider these examples.....

*The prime minister of Antigua wants to rename that island's highest mountain "Mount Obama". Perhaps the old name of the mountain - "Boggy Peak" - was just not drawing enough tourists.

*A developer in Ireland is hoping to receive approval for a hotel named after Barack Obama.

*Quite a few new parents in both the United States and Kenya have named their baby boys after the newly elected Obama.

*In fact, the New York Times is reporting that Barack, Obama, Michelle, Malia and Sasha have become inspirations for first and middle names all across the United States recently.

*One Spanish town plans to actually name a street after Barack Obama.

*Obama has even had a bagel named after him.

One elementary school in New York believes that it was the first school in the world to be named after president-elect Barack Obama. Just check out this video.....

Zombie McCain

One of the biggest weird news stories of the year that we did not cover was the picture of "zombie McCain" that was taken during one of the presidential debates that circulated like mad on the internet.

We don't know what made him stick his tongue out like that, but you have to admit that the picture below does not show McCain in the most flattering of poses.....
