The More Things "Change" The More They Stay The Same

Didn't Barack Obama promise change?

He did, didn't he?

So why in the world would Obama keep George W. Bush's Secretary of Defense?

In another stunning development, Robert Gates is to remain Secretary of Defense when Obama takes office.

That is not a joke.

So how will our military philosophy change if the same guy is in control?

It won't.

The truth is that Obama is planning on giving us more of the same.

Well, some Americans are fed up and they staged a mass protest. In 39 cities across the United States, American citizens protested the Federal Reserve last weekend. So why didn't we hear about this on the news?

I guess regular Americans asking for real change is not worth covering.

But our financial situation is becoming more of a mess as our politicians bumble around:

*The FDIC has added 54 more banks to its "problem list".

*ABC News is reporting that the U.S. government's financial bailout will be the most expensive single expenditure in American history, potentially costing around 7.5 trillion dollars.

But we can't have dissent. The U.S. government takes new steps almost daily to ensure that.

The U.S. State Department has actually announced plans to promote "online youth groups" as a new and powerful way to fight crime, political oppression and terrorism.

So soon we will have little brigades of "youth spies" running around reporting on their classmates, parents and neighbors.

Won't that be lovely?
