In an absolutely shocking announcement, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin announced on Friday that she is resigning effective at the end of this month. Does this mean that she is giving up and trying to get out of the public limelight, or does this mean that she is completely devoting herself to a run for the presidency in 2012?
The truth?
Nobody knows.
In a cryptic statement released by her office, Palin said the following about her resignation:
"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose."
So is this the last that we will see of Sarah Palin?
Has the horrific treatment that she has received from the national media scared her away from politics forever?
Or is she gearing up for the fight of her life?
Is she getting ready to put absolutely everything into trying to defeat Barack Obama in 2012 and to become the first female president of the United States?
Perhaps a message that she posted on Twitter following her resignation gives us a clue:
"We'll soon attach info on decision to not seek re-election ... this is in Alaska's best interest, my family's happy ... it is good. Stay tuned"
